For our fifteenth anniversary, we booked a short 4 day getaway to Sedona. Famous for the red-rock landscape and the iconic rock formations it offers, the scenery is beautiful.
We stayed in a “Casita” at the Enchantment Resort, the accommodations are nestled in Boynton Canyon with hiking and biking trails located within steps of your door. The resort offers a spa, lots of fitness classes including Yoga, guided hikes and walks, a stargazing experience with an expert astronomer, and lots more… The resort grounds are lovely and all the food at the restaurants was delicious. This resort is not in the center of town which is nice to relax and disconnect, but you’ll have to drive about 15 min to get to most of the restaurants and main attractions in Sedona, just something to take into account.
If you like adventure, I definitely recommend a Pink Jeep Tour – This was so much fun, it’s a must-do! The scenery was breathtaking. It was an extreme off-road adventure, but we felt safe at all times, they have been in business for over 50 years. We did their “Broken Arrow” tour, they have a few options from their Sedona location. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
One afternoon before dinner, we spent some time at the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village. Authentically fashioned after a traditional Mexican village, Tlaquepaque is the most distinctive Sedona shopping experience, with tasteful art galleries and unique craft shops, cobble-stone walkways & magnificent arches. You can find unusual things, not the typical touristy stuff.
For your romantic getaway to Sedona, here are some great places to have a fine dinner:
Dahl & Di Luca – Chef Lisa Dahl Ristorante Italiano, the most awarded fine dining restaurant in Sedona. Perfectly crafter Italian dishes with an extensive wine selection. I loved the cheese ravioli with mushroom and truffle cream sauce.
Cress on Oak Creek at the L’Auberge de Sedona. Most romantic hotel and restaurant in Sedona. Excellent service. We sat inside because it was a cold evening, but depending on the season when you go, this is a great place to dine outside with a scenic view.
Elote Cafe – Inspired regional Mexican fare. They don’t take reservations and it’s a very popular place, so be prepare to wait, but Elote Cafe has a cozy vibe and it is one of the best and most authentic eateries for Mexican cuisine in the United States.
Great places to have lunch:
Pisa Lisa – Modern authentic pizzeria with a bar & patio featuring thin crust wood-fired pizzas, unique tapas plates, healthy salads, panini sandwiches, and the best artisan gelatos and desserts.
Indian Garden’s Cafe and Market – Just four miles north of Sedona, in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon, you can find this cute grocery store/sandwich shop. Buy something to eat, and enjoy your lunch outside at a table in their patio.
The Hudson – Upscale, yet casual, local neighborhood restaurant at the top level of the Hillside Shopping Center. This is actually a great place for lunch or dinner, featuring seasonal American fare, from bruschetta, burgers, and salads to hand-cut 45-day aged prime steaks and fresh seafood.
We really got to know Sedona, AZ in the 4 days that we were there. We are for sure coming back with the kids in a not so romantic getaway. We are thinking of maybe combining it with a trip to the Grand Canyon.

We did two really nice easy trails near the Enchantment resort where we stayed, one unnamed trail behind the resort at the end of Boynton Canyon Rd, and the other one to the Boynton Pass Vortex. We also did the Sedona Trail View near the Airport Mesa, it was a good trail, but I did not love it because it was too close to the road so the views were not the best. I read that the Devil’s Bridge Trailhead is really nice, but we didn’t have a chance to hike it.
We’ve passed through Sedona but have never stayed there and its always been on our list to go back. We will definitely be checking out your recommendations when we plan our trip. It looks like you had a great time!
